Outreach events

The time to take action is NOW – we need to be out in our communities with a HUGE presence over the next three days, talking to people, connecting with people, making sure that everyone we speak with understands and knows how important it is to vote, to vote ‘NO’ on Prop 8, and to tell everyone they know to do the same.

We have a lot going on this weekend in Long Beach and OC, and we would love for you to be involved. Below are a list of events that we know of thus far that you can join in on. If you have something planned, email us and we'll add it.

Check back here regularly as the blog will be updated continuously this weekend with schedule updates.

In each case, just meet up at the spot listed at the time, and bring some campaign materials - stop by our campaign office in Long Beach if you need some!

Again, remember that while visibility is great and a big part of what we are doing, it's more important to actually be talking and interacting with people. So, get started with a rally meet up, but then get out and walk around and talk to people about voting NO on 8!

Again, I'll be adding more soon, so check back regularly!

Margaret Cho outreach

Margaret Cho and her team generously invited us to set up shop and talk to fans at her performance in Long Beach this past weekend. We got to talk to loooots of people and recruited a bunch to volunteer with us.

Community outreach trainings!

We sort of revamped our field plan locally over the past week, and have created amazing community outreach teams made up entirely of volunteers that want to play a big role in building support for the campaign in the next few days by talking and connecting with people. My team and I have trained over 100 people in the last three days alone, and its really exciting to think that they are going to be out and about all over the South Bay, Long Beach and OC, talking to people and spreading the word. I've done community organizing for quite some time now, and it never ceases to amaze me how effective and important this type of outreach is.

The diversity of those coming in for trainings is also impressive - recently married couples, retired grandparents, working professionals, high school and college students, members of the Long Beach community who are getting involved for family and friends - I think it says a lot about our movement when you really think about all of the people that have gotten involved.

A big thanks to everyone who attended a training - we can't wait to hear about your work!

Faith outreach

This Sunday we got a chance to visit several churches throughout Long Beach and OC. Leadership at the churches had asked us to make a presentation and get church members involved with the campaign, many of whom did. Faith outreach is such an important part of this campaign, and it's so amazing to see pastors and other faith leadership really taking a risk and lending their support to this movement.
